Grading the new Gold Buffalo
I have had an interest for many years in silver and gold, but have mainly participated by buying releases from the US Mint. Now, after having perused this website for a few weeks, I have also developed an interest in Silver and Gold Bullion. (My wife says "Thanks alot")
I decided to combine the two interests, and so decided to purchase the new Gold Buffalo, and got my order in on June 19th with APMEX for the bullion coins, and on June 22nd with the Mint for proofs. I ordered two of each type. I would like to get the proofs and bullion coins graded as I believe with this being a first year coin, the grading will enhance the value. My question is, is there a way to get "First Strike" (FS) grading done on the bullion coins? I know with the proofs that if you get them to the grader (NGC) within 30 days after release they qualify as FS coins, but I have not heard anything relative to this question with bullion coins. On HSN last week they had a coin show sale and had the new buffalos as "First Day of Issue" grading at MS69 for I think it was $1,195. This seemed a little steep :D so I did not buy any. Since I ordered my coins the first available day or before, is it possible to have them graded as FDOI coins or is this just something the graders for HSN did? Thanks for your help. |

Re: Grading the new Gold Buffalo
With new minting processes and superior handling, it would be hard to find one that is NOT ms 69-70, Save your money, only chumps are buying into the MS 70 Hype......glta
